The most convenient way of getting around the island of Koh Samui is by riding the songathew.  It can be compared to a bus, except that it is a red truck that travels around the island.  There are no designated stopping points for the songathew and the only way to get on them is to hail them.

Avoid the Taxis in Koh Samui

Taxis are also a convenient way of traveling around Koh Samui, but only as a last resort.  Unlike in other cities, taxis do not operate by the meter in Koh Samui, so the passenger has to bargain with the driver.  It is an expensive way to travel around the island.
